The story of Meetomate began not just as an idea, but as a
deeply personal journey. After my mother passed away, I
returned to the U.S. from China, only to find myself struggling
with loneliness. Life had moved on for everyone around me—
friends had busy schedules, moved away, or started families. I
vividly remember one Friday evening, sitting alone at my desk,
staring out at the flickering lights of downtown Los Angeles. The
silence was overwhelming, and I longed for something as
simple as a conversation, a shared laugh, or even a short outing
with someone who understood my interests.

But my inspiration for Meetomate goes even deeper. My mother
was a creative soul who loved painting, designing clothes, and
pursuing her passions. After my parents divorced, she found
herself isolated in a social environment that wasn’t her own, and
slowly, her vibrant energy faded. I often wondered—what if she
had a way to connect with like-minded people, who shared her
nterests and schedules? Could that have changed her life?
